Ammar is a dispute resolution lawyer handling a wide range of civil, commercial and criminal litigation, with a particular affinity for white collar matters where the boundaries of all three areas often intersect. His experience as a litigator has seen him represent clients in numerous investigations and on numerous occasions in court with many successful outcomes.

At the same time, Ammar is deeply invested in alternative dispute resolution methods. He is an Accredited Mediator with SMC, SIMI & CASE and a Member of the Young Singapore International Arbitration Centre.

Strongly believing in contributing back to society and the profession, Ammar regularly represents the less privileged members of society on a pro bono basis under the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme (“CLAS”) and serves as a committee member on the Criminal Practice Committee and the CLAS Committee.

Experience

PP v Mark Tan Peng Liat [2018] SGDC 43 – successfully obtaining after trial a conviction on a significantly lower charge after client was originally charged with murder.

Acted for Yeo Jiawei and a number of other parties in respect of 1MDB-related investigations and/or court cases and obtaining successful outcomes.

Acted for a former employee of a large beverage company in an alleged claim of conspiracy to cause millions of dollars of losses

Acted for a company in an alleged claim of conspiracy to earn secret profits and/or cause losses of millions of dollars to a large listed Chinese maritime group
